Speaking on 5 August, a spokesperson for the Commission said that the date for the mandatory switch to self-extinguishing cigarettes now depends on the speed with which the European Committee for Standardisation CEN prepares technical standards.The Commission said that the costs [on industry] will be minimal , and that the change will not really lead to price increases .
