GIRDWOOD, Alaska AP 鈥?Authorities in Alaska said they would attempt Thursday to reach the site of an avalanche that trapped three skiers, who were believed to have died after being buried in snow.Poor weather prevented Alaska State Troopers, avalanche experts and recovery teams from reaching the slide near Girdwood, about 40 miles 54 kilometers south of Anchorage, on Wednesday, troopers spokesperson Austin McDaniel stanley germany said. PRESQUE ISLE 鈥?Shirley M. Pinette Carney Morrissette, 78, died Aug. 20, 2013, at the Mars Hill Nursing Home, surrounded by her children after a year-long struggle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born May 19, 1935, in Wallagrass, to Aurelle and Grace Pinette.Shirley worked tirelessly as co-owner of Shirley Harolds Restaurant, Presque Isle, from 1982 until closing in 2009. Through the restaurant she helped feed the underprivileged in town. She worked in the restaurant industry for over 50 years. She was loved by all who met her and she gave generously to her community. She was a devout member of St. Marys Catholic Church of Presque Isle.She is survived by her children, Mark Carney of stanley germany Presque Isle, Theresa Hoffses and her husband, Karl, of Beaverton, Ore., Anthony Carney and his wife, Jeri, of Hampden, and Troy Carney and his wife, Marie, of Presque Isle; and grandchildren, Aaron Carney and Landon Larsen of Presque Isle, Karley Hoffses of Salt Lake City, M stanley cup itchell Hoffses of Beaverton, Ore., and Carson and Cameron Carney of Hampden.
