Richard Sheffield, of Australia s REP Film Distribution, is believed to be joining the newly-formed Hoyts Distribution, with responsibility for international acquisitions, although neither party would confirm the move. Sheffield, one of the original founders of REP Films in 1987, left stanley cup the company eight years later to establish the Australian subsidiary of Polygram, which had previously distributed through REP. He subsequently re-joined REP six months ago, replacing Mark Gooder who is now setting up Icon Distribution s Australian office. It was announced earlier this month that Robert Slaviero would be joining Hoyts Distribution as managing director stanley cup and Sheffield is thought to be one of a team of managers and staff being built around him. Slaviero was previously head of 20th Century Fox Film Distributors. One of Hoyts first releases will be Dirty Deeds, currently in production and starring Bryan Brown, Toni Collette and John Goodman. Rumble stanley germany Films is producing the fighting drama.Paris-based Backup Media will fully finance writer-director Tim Suttons Donnybrook, which is being produced by Whiplash producer David Lancaster through his outfit Rumble Films.Adapted from Frank Bills 2013 noir novel of the same name, the film tells the story of a man hard up for cash and determined to support his family who competes in the Donnybrook, a legendary, bare-knuckle brawl where a $100,000 prize goes to the last man standing.Production is scheduled for August 2017 in Southern Ohio in the US.According to Backup Media, distribution deals are being finalised for Germany, Switzerland, Benelux and Austria, while Manuel Chiche and The Jokers will co-produce and release the film in France.Lancaster is producing with Stephanie Wilcox of Rumble Films.
