Wallace Scholarship, Yunseo Kim, daughter of Hyunjoo and Yongho Kim, spoke to the Los Alamos Kiwanis at their meeting June 6 and talked about her community service experience and future plans.She has been very active in Kiwanis sponsored Key Club and in the Rotary programs. Kim has helped pack thousands of meals for the needy, helped the Peace Club raise $8000 for Ukrainian refugees, and assisted with food and clothing drives in Albuquerque and Los Alamos.聽 In addition, she helped raise money for Key Club projects, such as selling cotton candy at community events. She worked with Natural Helpers to assist people who were suff stanley ca ering because of mental health problems or COVID, as well as training other students in how to help.Kim wants to study at Columbia University, majoring in political science and human rights and hopes to become a diplomat or perhaps an ambassador at the United Nations.The meeting continued with an informative talk by Dennis Gill, chairman of the Scholarship Commit stanley cup tee who briefed the club on the committees work. GORDONLos Alamos Daily PostThe Los Alamos School Board extended Superintendent Dr. Kurt Steinhaus contract for one more year鈹€a year early. His contract will now run through 2018.The Superintendent is serving under a two-year contract, which began in June 2015. The Board decided, during its March 15 meeting, to extend the contract for another year without waiting for its expiration in 2017. The Board is pleased about what Kurt has been doing and this extension reflects that, recently re-elected Board President Jim Hall said. Were very pleased with his performance, recently elected Board Vice President Jenny McCumber agreed. He has exceeded expectations and proven to be a good leader.
