OSWEGO, NY 鈥?Mayor Tom Gillen has announced that an initiati water bottle stanley ve of the Campus-City Relations Committee, the Hal stanley cups uk l Newman Center, and SUNY Oswegos Campus Life and Reside stanley cup nce Life and Housing offices will encourage students to donate rather than discard household and personal items as they prepare to leave town for the summer.The reuse effort, called Leave Green, will help the local Oswego community while diverting usable items from the waste stream.Items to be collected include clothing, linens, area rugs, kitchenware and countertop appliances, electronics, wood and metal furniture, office and school supplies, unopened cleaning products, unopened toiletries, and unopened, unexpired and nonperishable foods.Food will be donated to local food pantries, while clothing and household items will be sold in a garage sale sponsored by the Hall Newman Center.For more than 20 years, the Newman Center has been the location for the sale.This year the garage sale will take place in the Swetman Gymnasium Campus Center on the SUNY Oswego campus, beginning at 9 a.m. May 23 through 25.Parking will be available adjacent to the gymnasium in lots 10 and 17 along Centennial Avenue.Proceeds from the garage sale will support local outreach programs sponsored by People Against Poverty, a committee of the Newman Center.Leftover clothing and household items not purchased at the sale will be redistributed to other local human service agencies and charitable organizations.For more information about Le |
