Nearly 200 youth athletes from across Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona were welcomed by feet of fresh snow for two days of alpine ski racing.Twenty-sixstanley cup nz TWST athletes arrived amped for competition supported by 3 TWST coaches including Julian LaCome and Hailey McDowellsenior Los Alamos High School . This was the debut race for several TWST athletes including Lucy Vaskas, Elinor Turner, Emma Mosby4th grade Los Alamos , Whitney Shelling, Corrine Pogue7th grade Los Alamos Middle School , Asher Paul, Owen Knaus, Jasmine Brady, Ella Knaus, and August Wood.TWST athletes contesting in the mens U16 field included Ian Olson earning 1st place, followed by Aksel Boukhalfa in 2nd place, and Sasho McDowell in 3rd place. Other accurate predictors were:David Kratzer with a 6stanley website second differential;William Strother a 9 seconds off;Jesse Woodroffe recording a 11 second difference; andRyan Smeltz stanley deutschland er at 17 seconds off.Diego Leonard, 7, was the top finisher in the 1 mile distance at8:49. The fastest female was Roxana Candia recording a11:41.The 2 mile course had Isolina Viloria winning with a time of20:50and Julian Ortiz, 6, the first male at 26:08.Aaron Jackson had a21:55for the top participant on the 3 mile course and Nikol Strother recorded22:40for best female finisher.Next weeks race ia 6 p.m.,Tuesday, May 9,starting at Barranca Mesa School on Barranca Mesa.1 mile paved and 3 mile hybrid courses will be available.
