The Acton Rotary Club has announced Shirley Broostad as the 2017 Acton Citizen of the Year.The recipient, longtime Acton resident Broostad, was announced last week for her determination in volunteering in a number of community service groups for over 20 years.In 1961, Broostad and her husband, Lloyd, moved to Acton from Edmonton and began construction on their home, where they still live. Broostad was a nursing instructor for a number of years at both the University of Guelph and Conestoga College. Nine Mile Point 1 and 2 nuclear plants.Union workers at Nine Mile One and Two decide today whether to allow their leaders to call a strike against the company that owns the nuclear plants in the town of Scriba, as a mediator arrives to try to avoid a walkout.The vote is being held because negotiations on a new contract have broken down, according to the Business Manager for Local 97 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Ted Skerpon. Negotiations have come to a stalemate,  Skerpon said in a note posted on Local 97s website.  We still have a major disagreement with a key component.
