I'd suggest not doing that, however that is just me. 1) your meter might not like it, even if it appears it might. The multimeter I have at dwelling (of the $50 persuasion) claims to have a 3000V scale. The display blinked off and back on erratically, and so on. I do still use the 3000V scale, I simply do not use the meter for anything a lot over 500V since then. Better meters will in all probability work as advertised, but don't anticipate a lot if (like me) you tried to low-cost out on it. 2) your disguise may not like it. Whenever you begin working with high voltage, it has a way of reaching out to seize you. You can get visible arcs from just 400V. Any faults within the insulation of your probes, and you're likely to be on the receiving end of such an arc. This is not Advisable. There are special probes for working with excessive voltage, and (afaik) they do not promote them for low cost at the native retail outlet on the mall.
