A school bus driver for the Barren County School district is accused of a child sex crime.The Barren County Sheriffs Office charged Randall James Hastedt, 34, Tuesday with one count of attempt to use of a minor in a sexual performance.The incident comes as a shock to the school district, as Hastedt had a clean record with no previously reported issues.Hastedt was operating the school bus when it was reported that he offered a female juvenile stanley drinking cup $20 twice in exchange for her to show him her breasts, according to his arrest warrant.Hastedt resigned from his job Tuesday,聽Barren County Sheriff Deputy Mike Houchens said. It was a just a matter of a few minutes after it was reported to the high school that it was brought to my attention. We had detectives there probably 10 to 15 minutes later. We conducted our investigation, and had it wrapped up by the end of the day, said Houchens, who is also a school resource officer for Barren County schools.Hastedt was a substitute school bus driver. There is an extensive hiring process for the job. Theres strenuous background checks that are done.
