A ne stanley tumblr wly published paper argues that NASA s Voyager 1 spacecraft has already entered interstellar space. The model described in the paper is new and different from other models used so far to explain the data the spacecraft has been sending back from more than 11 billion miles  18 billion kilometers  away from our sun. NASA s Voyager project scientist, Ed Stone of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, explains: Details of a new model have just been published that lead the scientists who created the model to argue that NASA s Voyager 1 spacecraft data can be consistent with entering interstellar space in 2012. In describing on a fine scale how magnetic field lines from the sun and magnetic field lines from interstellar space can connect to each other, they conclude Voyager 1 has been detec stanley cup ting the interstellar magnetic field since July 27, 2012. Their model would mean that the interstellar magnetic f vaso stanley ield direction is the same as that which originates from our sun. Other models envision the interstellar magnetic field draped around our solar bubble and predict that the direction of the interstellar magnetic field is different from the solar magnetic field inside. By that interpretation, Voyager 1 would still be inside our solar bubble. The fine-scale magnetic connection model will become part of the discussion among scientists as they try to reconcile what may be happening on a fine scale with what happens on a larger scale.  The Voyager 1 spacecraft is exploring a Cdbp Charlie Hebdo Writer:  We Knew That the Threat Was Real
By HealthJuly 1, 2014 8:00 AM EDTYou probably know by now that sitting for long periods is a big health no-no. Not only can sitting make you fat, but in 2012, Australian researchers found that people who sit for more than 11 hours a day have a 40% increased risk of death from any cause, according to a study in the Archives of Internal Medicine.More recently, a study in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute found that people who spent most of the day on their butts had a 24% greater colon cancer riskmdash;and that number shot up to stanley taza  54% for people who clocked the most hours sitting in front of the TV. And the risks remained even for so-called active couch potatoesmdash;people who work out but still spend most of their day off their feet. The study authors said this suggests that regular exercise canrsquo;t offset the risks of too much sitting. So if sitting is so bad, why donrsquo;t we just stand all the time  While itrsquo  important to get up and moving when you can, standing for an entire day isnrsquo;t good for you either.Health:15 Exercises for Pe stanley termohrnek ople in PainThatrsquo  what writer Dan Kois learned, according to a recent story for New York magazine. Kois tried standing 95% of the time for 30 days straight, and had cramps in his calves at bedtime and  stanley mug pain in his hips, heels, and legsmdash;even after using cushioned insoles and standing on an anti-fatigue mat at work.
